Intrahousehold decision-making, livelihoods, and household water choices in Kenya

Access to and rights over resources, including water, play a key role in agricultural production and the other types of productive activities that can be undertaken by the household.

In partnership with International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and financially supported by REACH, this project aims to explore intrahousehold differences in individual water access; how this is linked to water allocation in the household’s productive activities; and how they are associated with who controls output and income earned.

REACH-WISER (Water InSecurity Equity and Resilience)

REACH is an international, collaborative project led by Oxford University (OU), financially supported by FCDO, with Ethiopia, Kenya and Bangladesh as project implementing countries. REACH is implementing mixed methods research – REACH-WISER (Water InSecurity Equity and Resilience) - across communities in Ethiopia, Kenya and Bangladesh to better understand household and intra-household dynamics of water security and inequalities.
