OPHI Releases Analysis from Global MPI 2013

20 March, 2013

The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) has launched analysis from the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for 2013.

The global MPI is an international measure of acute poverty covering 104 developing countries that was developed by OPHI and the United Nations Development Programme in 2010, and has been published in UNDP’s flagship Human Development Reports ever since.

The new MPI shows that of 22 countries having data on MPI poverty over time, 18 reduced MPI significantly, and most reduced multidimensional poverty faster than income poverty.

The 2013 Human Development Report was released earlier this week.
