Elisa Sisto

Research Student

Elisa Sisto is pursuing a DPhil in International Development, focusing on the relation between border policy and geographic landscape, with an emphasis on humanitarian action at mountainous borders. Prior to her DPhil, Elisa worked at the International Organization for Migration and with different organisations across Southern and Eastern Europe, encompassing roles in migration research and operations, refugee and migration law, as well as human rights advocacy.

Elisa holds an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford, and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights from Columbia University and in Political Science from Sciences Po. Her doctoral research is supported by the Clarendon Fund and the Merton College International Development Scholarship.
