Andrea Tartakowsky

Research Officer, Young Lives

Andrea is a Quantitative Research Officer for Young Lives and a Teaching Associate in Economics for Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. She holds a DPhil in Social Policy and an MSc in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford, and both an MSc and a BSc in Economics from the University of Chile. Andrea’s research mainly focuses on the analysis of socioeconomic inequalities over the life course and the role of markets, public policy, and institutions in shaping them. Her research interests also include labour and education economics, intergenerational mobility, and methods for policy evaluation.

Before joining the Young Lives team, Andrea was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol and the ESRC Research Centre on Micro-Social Change (MiSoC). Apart from her academic experience, Andrea acquired first-hand policy experience in Chile as a Policy Researcher for the Microdata Centre at the University of Chile and as a Social Policy Analyst at the Chilean Ministry of Social Development. In these roles, she conducted longitudinal and cross-sectional surveys, analysed large-scale datasets, produced social indicators, developed algorithms for targeting social benefits, and took part in the design and evaluation of social programmes in the areas of poverty relief, employment, education, and health.
