Loujain Albaghdadi

Oxford Sanctuary Community Programme Coordinator within the University of Oxford’s International Development Office. She supports the development of the Oxford Sanctuary Community (OSC), helping students from refugee and forced migration backgrounds navigate the University and connect with appropriate sources of support, opportunities and community throughout their time at Oxford.

Loujain holds an MSc in International Education from the University of St Andrews, where she was a Sanctuary Scholar. Her dissertation explored the role of higher education in facilitating or constraining sustainable change in post-conflict contexts. Her interests include higher education, widening participation, and the role of policy in shaping more equitable and inclusive education systems.

Prior to joining Oxford, Loujain worked and volunteered across initiatives focused on refugee inclusion, student engagement and access to education. As a Universities of Sanctuary Ambassador, she contributed to university and college Sanctuary appraisals, and through the Student Action for Refugees (STAR) Equal Access Network, she has advocated for more equitable access to higher education. She is also the founder of ExpanderEdu, a digital platform making educational opportunities and guidance more accessible to Arabic-speaking communities.
