Benjamin Margetts

Administrator, Oxford SDG Impact Lab

Ben is the Administrator of the Oxford SDG Impact Lab. As Programme Manager for the Oxford Laidlaw Scholars Programme at the Impact Lab, he supports undergraduate researchers and ethical leaders through interdisciplinary research, skills development, and community engagement. His work focuses on enabling students to translate academic insight into meaningful social impact.

He brings over 21 years of experience in school teaching and leadership across the UK and internationally, with a focus on how educational environments shape students’ engagement, belonging, and development, particularly during transition points.

Ben has recently completed a PhD in the Sociology of Education at Oxford Brookes University, developing a Critical Realist account of Positive School Culture as an emergent, mechanism-driven phenomenon.

He also holds an MA in Education, Economics and International Development from the UCL Institute of Education.
