Sexual Harassment Prevention

The University of Oxford is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone. Sexual harassment and sexual misconduct are not tolerated, and all members of the University community have a role in helping to prevent inappropriate behaviour.

For Staff

Under the Worker Protection Act 2023, the University has a legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of staff.

To support this commitment:

•  All employees are required to complete mandatory Harassment in Higher Education training (SSO Required).

•  The training also supports compliance with the Office for Students' Conditions of Registration relating to equality, diversity and inclusion.

For Students

The University is committed to ensuring all students can study in an environment free from harassment and sexual misconduct.

All students should:

•  Read Supporting Students at Oxford: Preventing and Responding to Harassment and Sexual Misconduct.

•  Complete the Consent for Students online course (required for all award-bearing programmes).

University Commitment

These measures support the University’s People Strategy, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan and Harassment Policy. Together, they help create a respectful, safe and inclusive environment for staff, students, visitors and contractors.
