ODID research shortlisted for Vice-Chancellor’s Awards 2025
We are delighted that four ODID research projects have been shortlisted for the University of Oxford Vice-Chancellor’s Awards 2025: Young Lives, OPHI, OxValue.AI, and the SDG Impact Lab.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are Oxford University’s highest institutional honours, celebrating groundbreaking research and innovation with tangible real-world impact.
Young Lives has been shortlisted for the Research Engagement Award in the category Excellence in Research and Innovation. Recent engagement by Young Lives with non-academic stakeholders in Peru has informed congressional debates on children’s right to a basic education and legislative change to prohibit child marriage.
The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) has been shortlisted for the Making a Difference Globally Award in the Excellence Across Oxford category. OPHI’s pioneering work using a Multidimensional Poverty Index has significantly contributed to tracking and advancing global goals on poverty eradication, particularly in developing nations. By strategically expanding its transnational network of partners, OPHI increased capacity and empowered local and global leaders to step up poverty reduction efforts for marginalised communities.
OxValue.AI has been shortlisted for the Innovation and Commercialisation Award in the category Excellence in Research and Innovation. OxValue.AI is a spinout from research led by Professor Xiaolan Fu at ODID. It uses big data and artificial intelligence to evaluate the monetary value of technology or technology-rich startup companies to help support innovation and facilitate technology transfer to developing countries.
The Oxford SDG Impact Lab has been shortlisted for the Local Community Engagement Award for the Lab's Oxford Young Sport Leaders Programme. This programme stands as a powerful example of SDG17: Partnerships for the Goals in action. Its success is rooted in the collaborative efforts across the University and wider community.
The winners and highly commended nominees will be announced at a special ceremony hosted by the Vice-Chancellor at the Sheldonian Theatre on Thursday 15 May. Read more about the awards here.
