Liisa Malkki of Standford University to Give 2014 Elizabeth Colson Lecture

Professor Liisa Malkki of Stanford University will give the Refugee Studies Centre's 2014 Elizabeth Colson Lecture on 'Impossible Situations: affective impasses and their afterlives in humanitarian and ethnographic fieldwork' on 11 June.

Liisa Malkki is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Stanford University. Her research interests include: the politics of nationalism, internationalism, cosmopolitanism and human rights discourses as transnational cultural forms; the social production of historical memory and the uses of history; political violence, exile and displacement; the ethics and politics of humanitarian aid; child research; and visual culture.

The Lecture will take place at 5 pm in Seminar Room 3.
