Xiaolan Fu gives keynote on multinationals and local capacity building
Professor Xiaolan Fu gave a keynote speech on multinationals, local capacity building and development at the 5th China-Africa Research Initiative Conference at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies this month.
Professor Fu's speech compared local managerial knowledge transfers and spillover effects of Chinese and European MNEs operating in Africa. She noted that differences could be attributed to factors such as corporate culture styles and linguistic and cultural barriers.
The conference, titled ‘Catalysts, Competition and Learning: Knowledge, Skills and Technology Transfer in China-Africa Engagements’ took place in Washington DC 15-16 April.
Xiaolan Fu is Professor of Technology and Development at ODID and Director of the Technology and Management Centre for Development (TMCD).
