UNICEF Features Young Lives Work in Child Poverty Insight Series

The latest issue of UNICEF's Child Poverty Insight series presents work by Jo Boyden and Stefan Dercon that argues that it is not economic growth itself, or the level of that growth, that matters for children, but the nature or quality of growth.

The briefing paper is based on an essay: Child Development and Economic Development: Lessons and Future Challenges that reviews current research into child development. It examines how the well-being of children is affected by rapid social and economic change; whether and in what ways children have benefited from economic growth; and how policy can use economic growth as a tool to promote the best interests of the child.
