TMD Centre, OXCEP Hold China Policy Forum

The Oxford Chinese Economy Programme (OXCEP) and ODID's Technology and Management for Development Centre co-organised a China Policy Forum on June 7 at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford.

At a time when China’s economy and society are changing rapidly, policies have to keep up with this and look ahead to future changes. The transfer of leadership in China provides an opportunity to reassess existing policies and consider new policy options.

The Forum examined four highly topical policy issues: industrial upgrading and technology policies (Xiaolan Fu, Oxford University), policies against poverty (Li Shi, Beijing Normal University), policies for the ageing population (Zhao Yaohui, Peking University), and the economic causes and cures of social instability (John Knight, Oxford University).

The China Policy Forum was supported by St Edmund Hall and OXCEP.
