Rodney Hall to Give Invited Lecture on the Social Lives of Money and Global Finance

Dr Rodney Bruce Hall will give an invited lecture to the Economics and Finance Society of University College London entitled 'The Social Lives of Money and Global Finance'.

The talk takes place on Thursday 15 November at 5:30 p.m. and is followed by a Q&A at the UCL campus in London at Bedford Way, Room LG04.

Dr. Hall will speak on the consequences of money as a social fact for the governance of a global system of fiat monies, and provide some provisional results from his investigations into the global financial crisis based upon semistructured research interviews of financial professionals in New York and London.

A highly socialized account of the sources of the financial crisis emerges, as well as the social mechanisms by which financial crises develop, break upon the world, and the recoveries that follow.

Previous speakers to the society include Chancellor George Osborne and Martin Wolf of the Financial Times.
