ODID to Host Radio 4's The World Tonight for Panel Discussion on Migration and Social Cohesion

We are looking forward to welcoming Radio 4’s The World Tonight Programme to the department later today for a panel discussion on migration, social cohesion and national identity.

The panel, which will be chaired by The World Tonight presenter Ritula Shah, includes

  • Alexander Betts, Professor of Forced Migration and International Affairs at ODID
  • Sunder Katwala, Director of the integration think tank, British Future
  • Alp Mehmet, Vice Chair of Migration Watch
  • Saira Grant, Director for the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants

The programme, titled “The Cohesion Question”, will consider whether increased migration threatens social cohesion and whether the identity of nations will change beyond recognition in the 21st century.

The programme will air at 10pm GMT. A link will be available on iPlayer shortly afterwards.
