Miles Tendi Writes on UK-Zimbabwe Relations for The Africa Report

ODID Departmental Lecturer Miles Tendi has written an article for The Africa Report on diplomatic relations between Britain and Zimbabwe.

The article traces how mutual demonsiation by the British governement and President Robert Mugabe made diplomatic engagement impossible and suggests that, in the wake of the defeat of the opposition MDC, the two countries may need to "de-demonise" in order to move ahead on a slow path towards re-engagement.

The article draws on Miles' recently published paper in the Journal of Southern African Studies on 'The Origins and Functions of Demonisation Discourses in Britain-Zimbabwe Relations (2000- )'.
