We are delighted to announce that Tom Scott-Smith, who completed his DPhil at ODID in April, has been appointed Lecturer in Politics at the University of Bristol.

He will take up his post, a permanent position in the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies (SPAIS), in September.

Tom's research has examined the history of humanitarian relief, focussing on nutrition and the social roles of technology. His doctoral thesis concerned the history of emergency foods, anthropometric techniques and nutritional science.
