Dan Hodgkinson wins Teaching Excellence Award

We are delighted to announce that Dr Dan Hodgkinson has won a Divisional Teaching Excellence Award

Dr Dan Hodgkinson was recognised for his outstanding contribution to teaching within ODID, and his commitment to the History and Politics stream of the MPhil in Development Studies.

Students and colleagues of Dan recognised his dedication to the Department beyond his teaching responsibilities in the overwhelmingly positive feedback submitted to the Social Sciences Divisional Board, including his organisation of interactive workshops on ‘Identity and Your Learning’, and his proactive contributions to other courses.

Dan is a Departmental Lecturer in African History and Politics at ODID where he has taught for the MPhil in Development Studies. He has also run the mentoring programme for the MSc in African Studies, where masters’ students are supported in approaching their academic studies.

Dan recently completed his DPhil at ODID where he explored several generations of university student activists in Zimbabwe and Rhodesia who used their elite status to challenge the state and other political authorities. This is now being converted into a book.
