Corneliu Bjola Wins OxTALENT Award for Use of Social Media in Teaching

ODID Associate Professor Corneliu Bjola has won an OxTALENT award for enhancing students' learning experience using social media apps.

The annual OxTALENT awards recognise members of the University who have made innovative use of IT in order to:

  • Foster learning and academic practice at either undergraduate or postgraduate level;
  • Develop more effective links between teaching and research
  • Improve impact through outreach and public engagement.

The award will be presented on 18 June.

Corneliu teaches on the MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy. He uses Facebook to post daily news on diplomatic affairs that can easily be followed and commented upon by students. He also uses Storify which helps students conduct research and present the outcome of that research for group projects.
