Amir Lebdioui to succeed Xiaolan Fu as Director of the Technology and Management Centre for Development
We are delighted to announce that Dr Amir Lebdioui will assume the leadership of the Technology and Management Centre for Development (TMCD) at ODID, taking over from founding director Professor Xiaolan Fu.
Celebrating 15 years of impactful research, TMCD has been instrumental in furthering our collective understanding of how technology development and diffusion can enhance development and alleviate poverty.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Professor Fu for her leadership and continued dedication to the centre’s mission.
Dr Lebdioui, who is Associate Professor of the Political Economy of Development at ODID, brings a wealth of experience to TMCD’s next chapter, thanks to his research expertise on structural transformation and industrial policies, low-carbon innovation, and biodiversity-based development models.
The TMCD will be hosting two events this week:
- The inaugural al Jazari Lecture: "Harnessing Technology and Financial Innovation to Serve the Global South" on 13 May, with special guest Azman Mokhtar
- "New Infrastructure and Emerging Trends in Chinese Foreign Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean" on 15 May, a presentation by Margaret Myers and Angel Melguizo
