Amir Lebdioui speaks at the UN’s Financing for Development Dialogues
Amir Lebdioui delivered a speech at the UN as part of the Financing for Development Dialogues, which brought together think tanks, universities, research networks and other academic stakeholders to discuss evidence-based solutions to the most pressing issues for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development.
On 2 December, at the invitation of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), Amir Lebdioui spoke at the opening session of the ‘Financing for the Future’ Global Policy Dialogue at the UN HQ in New York. The day aimed to engage academia in the preparations for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in 2025 and inform Member States in their efforts to achieve the SDGs.
By bringing academia into the policy discussion, UNDESA is insuring a more inclusive but also evidence-based dialogue in the Financing for Development negotiations. The event also provided the opportunity to comment on the ambitious UN-DESA elements paper, which comprehensively sketches the range of financing issues being negotiated next year, ranging from national and regional development banking, the global debt crisis, unequal resource exchange and illicit financial flows.
