In this seminar, Dr. Ates will examine the evolution of Türkiye’s industrial base over the past two decades. He will particularly focus on the key drivers that have enabled its expansion into a diversified manufacturing and export-oriented economy. The talk will explore the role of state policy, strategic sectors (such as defence, automotive, and electronics), and integration into global value chains.

More broadly, the seminar aims to situate Türkiye within the wider debate on 21st-century industrialization, offering comparative insights and drawing lessons relevant for other emerging economies navigating similar transitions.
