Emily Arnold-Fernandez

Emily is a human rights practitioner and scholar with a long career in forced migration response. She served as the founding CEO of Asylum Access, the leading global refugee human rights organisation, from 2005 to 2022. She also writes and teaches in the areas of refugee studies, human rights law, and social entrepreneurship, and has lived in the US, the UK, Spain, Egypt and Zimbabwe.  

Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University.  In addition to her work with Forced Migration Review, she is currently writing a book on Refugees and Work in Law and Practice, part of the Refugee Studies Centre's Refugee Economies project.
