Senior Research Officer Robtel Neajai Pailey appointed to board of Monrovia Football Academy

Robtel Neajai Pailey, Senior Research Officer at ODID’s International Migration Institute, has been appointed to the board of directors of Monrovia Football Academy.

The Academy, established in 2015, uses football – the most popular sport in Liberia – as a positive-incentive mechanism to encourage students to attend school and improve academic performance. The Academy combines football training in the mornings with academic classes in the afternoons, as well as focussing on gender equity, good nutrition, and education in life skills.

'As someone who is both passionate about education and committed to Liberia’s transformation, I am excited to serve on the Board of this important institution', Dr Pailey said. 'Monrovia Football Academy is engaged in three critical areas at the core of my personal and professional life – high quality knowledge transfer, gender equity, and nuanced depictions of Liberia and its people. I look forward to advancing the Academy’s mission and supporting its transition from a start-up to a sustainable, flagship school'.

The academy said, 'Dr. Pailey is one of Liberia’s best and brightest. She will use her proven leadership skills and academic prowess to enhance the Academy’s organizational structure, academic program, and growth strategy'.
