RSC Director Alexander Betts Comments Across Media on Refugee Crisis

The Director of the Refugee Studies Centre, Professor Alexander Betts, has been sought out extensively across the media over the past month for commentary on the unfolding refugee and migrant crisis.

Professor Betts has been interviewed by Al Jazeera, Amanpour, BBC News, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC World Service, the Washington Post, and ABC News.

He has discussed the shortcomings of the European response to the crisis, arguing that a comprehensive refugee policy is needed; analysed the reasons behind the recent influx of people; explored how language around refugees and migrants has been used and misused; and given his view on the idea of a 'refugee nation', as well as emphasising that research shows refugees can bring economic benefits to a host economy.
