ODID's Nikita Sud was invited to be an editorial commentator on Indian Legislative Assembly elections by the Hindustan Times, the Indian Express, and Radio France during November and December 2012.

Five Indian States went to the polls in 2012, and another two will follow shortly. The results will be an indicator of trends for national parliamentary elections in 2014.

Nikita was interviewed by Radio France about Narendra Modi, whose Hindu nationalist party was reelected in Gujarat, and on relations between Muslims and Hindus in the province.

Nikita's recent book, Liberalization, Hindu Nationalism and The State: A Biography of Gujarat (OUP, 2012), traces Gujarat's political and developmental trajectory and was widely covered in local and national media in the run-up to the polls.
