Former MPhil Student Elected MP for Greens in New Zealand

Former MPhil Student Holly Walker has been elected to parliament in New Zealand as a representative of the Green Party.

Holly, 29, is based in Hutt South in the Lower Hutt Valley. She is the second youngest MP in New Zealand’s Parliament.

Holly studied on ODID’s MPhil in Development Studies between 2007 and 2009 as a Rhodes Scholar.

The Green Party won around 11 per cent of the vote in the elections, which were held on November 26, and now have 14 MPs. The ruling National Party won just over 47 per cent of the vote.
