David Jackman awarded Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship

Congratulations to David Jackman, who has been awarded a prestigious three-year Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship.

David’s project, titled ‘When states disarm societies: consolidating violence in Bangladesh’, examines the changing character of political authority in the historically unruly southwest of Bangladesh. It will explore how de facto power held by violent actors within and beyond the formal state is negotiated and in flux, radically shaping the character of politics and everyday life.

David was previously a Departmental Lecturer at ODID.

The highly competitive scheme, which enables researchers to undertake a significant piece of publishable research, recognises those who have already demonstrated research excellence in their fields but who have not yet held a permanent academic post.
