ODID Associate Professor Cathryn Costello has won an Oxford University Teaching Excellence Award for a project to enhance the course on International Human Rights and Refugee Law, which forms a core part of the MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies.

Cathryn is the first holder of the Andrew W Mellow Associate Professorship in International Human Rights and Refugee Law, and joined ODID in 2013, after ten years as Francis Reynolds CUF in EU & Public Law. As such she is the first permanent postholder to teach the course, and the award reflects her commitment to improving students’ learning experience, and to creating course materials which will help her to develop the subject of refugee law more generally.    

She will use the award to develop the curriculum, enhance the materials for the course, and integrate some experiential learning.
