Paul Krugman, Xiaolan Fu Give Keynotes at Human Welfare Conference on Innovation in Development

Professor Paul Krugman, Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences, and Professor Xiaolan Fu of ODID delivered the keynote speeches at the Human Welfare Conference on Innovation in Development on 23 and 24 May.

The conference brings together leading graduate students, academics, and practitioners worldwide to debate key issues that improve human welfare both academically and professionally. It is organised annually by Green Templeton College.

The conference theme for this year was Innovation in Development: Challenging convention to advance human welfare in low- and middle-income countries.

During the conference, Professor Krugman discussed what we know about the welfare state and Professor Fu analysed the relevance of innovation in low-income countries.

Professor Krugman is currently Sanjaya Lall Visiting Professor at Oxford University.
