Xuechen Ding is the Research Officer at TMCD with the Innovation Catch-up in Platform Economy project. She is responsible for the daily running of the project, organizing relevant conferences/seminars, and writing academic papers and book chapters based on the project output. This project aligns closely with her research experience which uses quantitative methods to study how companies in developing countries develop their technological innovation and make impact on the society.
Xuechen received her Ph.D in Innovation Management at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2020), as well as a Bachelor Degree in Management Science from Central University of Finance and Economics (2013). Her PhD research focuses on academic entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in research institutes. Xuechen went to University of California, Davis as a visiting scholar in 2018, which was funded by China Scholarship Council. Before she came to Oxford, she has worked in UCAS for a year as a post-doc researcher.
She has worked on a wide range of innovation related topics, such as intra-firm collaboration, business model innovation and radical innovation. Her current research lies on digital innovation and entrepreneurship in developing economies, and how latecomer countries and companies catch up in the digital era, especially innovation in the digital economy in China.
