Solange holds an MPhil in African Studies from the University of Cambridge (2013), an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics (2001) and a BA/MA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford (1999).

Prior to returning to academia she worked for over ten years in humanitarian programmes and policy with a wide range of organisations, including INGOs, the UN and the ICRC. Her professional interest is in livelihoods and protection, and she worked primarily with displaced, refugee, host and returnee communities in central, west and east Africa and the Middle East.
