The department is a lively community that is recognised internationally as one of the top centres for research and teaching in development studies.
Laura Epton joined ODID as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer in September 2021.
She provides support to the department's Equality and Diversity Committee, working closely with the EDI Lead, to embed and share best practice on gender and race equality, monitor and evaluate Athena Swan actions (the Advance-HE initiative to improve gender equality in higher education and research) and manage projects to help build an environment in which all staff and students feel valued, included and able to achieve their potential.
Laura is part of the divisional EDI panel in Social Sciences and works with EDI colleagues across the University to embed the principles of equality and diversity within policy, practice and culture.
If you have an idea or query regarding ODID’s EDI work please do not hesitate to get in touch.
