Jakob Tonda Dirksen

Research Assistant, OPHI

Jakob is part of the research team at the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and Research Assistant to OPHI Director Sabina Alkire. He supports Dr Alkire in her research and works in research and policy projects across OPHI’s wider portfolio.

At the University of Oxford, Jakob splits his time between OPHI and the Blavatnik School of Government, where he does research on inequalities. Jakob is also Lecturer and Research Associate at Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany.

Prior to joining OPHI, Jakob was Research Associate at Mansfield College and Programme Assistant at The Europaeum (both University of Oxford), and worked in diplomacy at the German Foreign Office (German Embassy in Asmara, Eritrea).
