The department is a lively community that is recognised internationally as one of the top centres for research and teaching in development studies.
Eliya assists the Events and International Summer School Coordinator with organising and running the various events the Refugee Studies Centre holds throughout the year, including the two-week Summer School in Forced Migration and the Visiting Fellowship Programme. She also helps with day-to-day administrative processes and communication within the RSC.
Before joining the RSC, Eliya worked at a variety of different places including Blackwell’s in Oxford and teaching English in Cambodia. She was born in Kenya and lived there and in Eritrea until she was 12. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Southampton.
