“I had waited for 10 years before my dream to study in Oxford became a reality and the experience was truly beyond expectation”
Our students are taught to develop as critical and independent thinkers and when they leave us they are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to bring about real change.
“My time at Oxford strengthened my critical analysis and provided me with a unique interdisciplinary grounding in history, politics and economics that has equipped me well in dealing with public policy issues and program development strategy.”

Join us for a new episode of ODID Flash Talks: a new series where a speaker gets 15 minutes to present on their research, fieldwork, or work experience.
Dr Jessie Barton Hronešová's research studies different victim groups in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina and their efforts for socio-economic compensation since 1995 until present. She specifically looks at victims of sexual violence, missing people families, injured civilians and ex-camp inmates. She studies their strategies to justify their claims for compensation such as legal mobilization, collective action, leveraging of their victimhood identity and creation of coalitions with international actors. In this flash talk, Dr Hronešová will present her conceptual framework for understanding victims' claim-making and successes.
The short talk will be followed by a Q&A and socialising in the Hall.
All welcome to this free event. A light lunch is provided.
