About the Nigeria Research Network

The Nigeria Research Network connects European, American, and Nigerian academics who have extensive experience with empirical and development-oriented research in northern Nigeria. It is based at Queen Elizabeth House at the University of Oxford, where it currently involves Abdul Raufu Mustapha, David Ehrhardt, and Hannah Hoechner. Other members include Phil Ostien, Kate Meagher, Rachael Diprose, Adam Higazi, and several PhD and M.Phil researchers. The NRN collaborates closely with the development Research and Project Centre in Kano, who have an excellent track record of designing and implementing community development projects in Nigeria’s northern States. About the Islam Research Programme - Abuja

The general aim of the Islam Research Programme (IRP) is to strengthen knowledge of and dialogue with the Muslim world. The Programme, funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, concentrates on research on contemporary developments in the Muslim world. Subjects of research fall within the areas of Islamic law, political and socio-economic developments, and culture and religion. The IRP-Abuja project focuses on Muslims and interfaith relations in northern Nigeria. It is carried out jointly by the Nigeria Research Network at the University of Oxford and the development Research and Project Centre (dRPC) in Kano, Nigeria. Six senior advisors to the IRP-Abuja project were drawn from the two main faith communities in Nigeria, as well as from international academia.
