Verónica Puga Durán

Research and Policy Engagement Coordinator, Green Economic Transformation in Latin America

Verónica Puga Durán is the Research and Policy Engagement Coordinator of the Programme on Green Economic Transformation in Latin America. Her professional focus has been at the intersection of sustainability and equity, especially in the areas of water and energy.

Within the NGO sector, she cofounded and directed Engineers Without Borders Chile, which promotes the socio-environmental responsibility of engineers and co-develops interdisciplinary community improvement projects. She also headed Amulen, an NGO working at the intersection of innovation and water access. As a civil servant, Verónica worked for the Ministry of Energy of Chile, spearheading initiatives on local development and economic regulations within the Green Hydrogen Strategy. She has also provided advice and external consultation, and completed an internship at the Inter-American Development Bank.  

She holds a bachelor´s and an MSc degree in Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, as well as an MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise, and the Environment from the University of Oxford. Veronica is a proud Latin woman who appreciated her heritage and dreams of improving lives in her continent.
