Sir Tony Atkinson, 1944-2017
It is with great sadness we note the death of Professor Sir Tony Atkinson, one of the world’s leading scholars on the economics of poverty and inequality, and a close friend of the Department.
Sir Tony was a long-time and greatly valued advisor to the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and we recently had the honour of co-hosting the launch of the 2016 report of the World Bank Commission on Global Poverty, of which he was the lead author.
