ODID DPhil Student Zainab Usman Speaks to BBC About Attacks in Nigeria

ODID DPhil student Zainab Usman has been interviewed by BBC World's Focus on Africa programme about recent attacks in Nigeria.

Zainab said that the Nigerian military had been weakened by purges and financial mismanagement and suggested that efforts to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency had become highly politicised. She also commented on the lack of response to the attacks from Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.

As many as 2,000 people were massacred last week in and around the Nigerian town of Baga, and the attack was followed by bombings of markets in the north-east.
