Nikita Sud Interviewed by Radio France As Modi Visits Parliament for First Time

ODID Associate Professor Nikita Sud has been interviewed by Radio France about new Indian leader Narendra Modi.

Modi made his first visit to parliament yesterday. According to Nikita, Modi, who sported a saffron mark on his forehead during the visit, was continuing to present himself as a Hindu nationalist mascot. "Symbolically he is making absolutely no attempt to move away from his strident right-wing roots and convictions," she said. However she added that Modi was very ambitious and to remain in power in the long term he would need broad support.
