In the latest post to ODID's blog, Debating Development, Frances Stewart writes on the issue of national "ownership" of global goals.

In the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), she suggests that rather than translating global goals mechanistically into national goals, the SDGs should conform to a set of global principles. Countries would then establish their own national goals and targets in accordance with these. She goes on to suggest five principles she considers appropriate.
