Former ODID DPhil Sneha Krishnan appointed Associate Professor at Oxford University

Congratulations to former ODID DPhil Sneha Krishnan, who has been appointed Associate Professor of Human Geography and Tutorial Fellow in Geography at Brasenose College, Oxford, starting in September.

Sneha completed her DPhil at ODID in 2015 under the supervision of Associate Professor Nandini Gooptu.

She is currently Junior Research Fellow at St John’s College, Oxford. Her research there has focussed on gender and education in post-colonial India, looking in particular at how young women’s lives have been shaped by colonial discourses about childhood, capacity and maturity.

A second project addresses ethnicity and cultures of memorialisation among Tamil communities in Guadeloupe and she is also involved in research collaborations on urban cultural history, childhood and imperialism, and youth suicide.
