Clare Short to Lecture on UK and Post-Genocidal Rwanda

Clare Short, the former Secretary of State for International Development, will deliver a lecture entitled 'The United Kingdom and Post-Genocidal Rwanda' on Thursday, 8 November.

The Vaughan Memorial Lecture, which is co-hosted by ODID and the Central Africa Forum, will examine the extremely close relationship cultivated between Rwanda and Britain between 1997 and 2003.

Clare Short was Secretary of State for International Development in the government of Prime Minister Tony Blair from 3 May 1997 until resigning the post in May 2003. She was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1983 and stood down in 2010.

The lecture takes place at 5 pm in the Nissan Lecture Theatre, St Antony's College, and will be followed by a reception. It is supported by the African studies Centre and Balliol College.
