Book Launch: Socio-legal Integration by Agnieszka Kubal

ODID is hosting a launch event for a new book by Dr Agnieszka Kubal, Socio-Legal Integration: Polish Post-2004 EU Enlargement Migrants in the United Kingdom, on Wednesday November 28.

The book, published by Ashgate, examines how contemporary migrants form and transform their involvement with the law in their host countries, using Polish post-2004 EU enlargement migrants as a case study.

It analyses the interplay between the new legal environment and migrants’ existing culturally-derived values, attitudes, behaviour and social expectations towards law and law enforcement.

Dr Kubal, who is a Research Officer at the International Migration Institute, uses the Polish case study to examine attitudes towards the rules that govern migrants' work and residence in the UK and the legal system in general.

With wider international relevance, this book makes a case for the meaningful employment of legal culture in socio-legal integration research and suggests far-reaching consequences for host countries and their immigrant communities.

The launch will take place at 13:00 in Seminar Room 2. A light lunch will be served. All welcome.
