BBC highlights DPhil Zainab Usman as Twitter user to follow for development insights

ODID DPhil student Zainab Usman has been featured on new a list compiled by the BBC of Twitter users worth following for commentary on international development issues.

Zainab tweets on issues related to African political, economic and security developments, with a particular focus on Nigeria. She also blogs and has provided commentary for a wide range of print and broadcast media.

The Twitter list, compiled by Melanie Archer, Digital Editor for BBC Media Action, features 15 "opinion makers (and sharers)" from the governance, health and humanitarian communities and includes well-established social media figures such as Duncan Green of Oxfam as well as introducing "some new faces who should definitely be on your radar".

Zainab's doctoral research is a political economy analysis of Nigeria’s efforts, since the transition to democracy in 1999, to diversify its economy away from dependence on oil in GDP, export earnings and government revenue.
