Finance and Contracts Administrator - Oxford Poverty & Human Development Initiative (OPHI) (ref: 130052)

Grade 5: £24,565 - £29,301 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Finance Administrator to join a dynamic and friendly research group at an important stage of its development.  As a key member of the core project team based in Oxford, the OPHI Finance and Contracts Administrator will have an excellent opportunity to experience a broad range of financial activities required to support an entrepreneurial research group, including budgeting and contracts, and day-to-day HR duties such as drafting contracts for consultants and casual workers. The post holder will be responsible for the administration of OPHI’s increasing portfolio of grants and contracts as well as other new research grants and income streams. Directly responsible to the Director of OPHI, Sabina Alkire, the post holder will liaise as appropriate with the ODID Head of Administration, the Finance Officer and other staff in ODID as well as with the donors and benefactors of OPHI.  The post is full-time, and tenable for 12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on available funding.

The successful applicant will have: proven relevant administrative experience and outstanding organisational skills; proven numeracy skills and experience of working with budgets and analysing and producing financial reports; the ability to negotiate and manage complex contracts with multiple funding sources; and a high degree of computer literacy including word processing, email, databases and spreadsheets, and the use and development of online resources such as calendars.  The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while proactively anticipating, noting and meeting key deadlines; proven attention to detail; accuracy in both financial and written tasks; excellent writing and editing skills; and the ability to prioritise, to work reliably and flexibly as part of a team, are also essential.  He/she will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal, experience in cross-cultural communication, and the ability to build and maintaining cordial professional relationships.
