As an industry developer for the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, I craft national policies, programmes and initiatives to help grow the aviation industry in my country. A large part of my job involves engaging with companies to discuss their needs and challenges, identifying key industry trends and gaps and, subsequently, implementing solutions that will enable firms to develop innovative, high-value capabilities.

Given aviation's global nature, a nuanced appreciation for international discussions on issues as diverse as the environment, air rights, security and safety is an important and valuable asset in my role as a policy-maker and implementer. The MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy helped to broaden my understanding and approach on a range of intricate and complex global issues, with the different demands and considerations of each strengthening my intellectual adaptability - a skill which helped to prepare me for the dynamism of the aviation landscape.

I also thoroughly benefited from the international mix of passionate students in the programme, with whom I enjoyed many rigorous debates and discussions on a myriad of issues. These have helped to both challenge and shape my intellectual perspective, reinforcing the critical and analytical skills I continue to employ each day in my work with the Singapore government.

The course helped to broaden my understanding and approach on a range of intricate and complex global issues.
